Abdel Monem El Shafei wins Inaugural Faldo Tee Challenge…….

Abdel Monem El Shafei ( Gezira Sporting Club ) won the inaugural Faldo tee challenge today following a second round 82 in challenging windy day over the Palm Course at Katameya Dunes. Playing from the Faldo tees the Palms course measure 7310 yards and in hot and windy conditions proved a stern test. Playing together in final group El Shafei started 3 shots behind first round leader Ahmed Durrani (Katameya Heights) but a second round 82 saw him the champion by 2 shots. Runner Up went to Billy Rateb (Gezira Sporting Club) with rounds of 83 and 81 for a 164 total.

Ahmed Durrani eventually took the overall Net Champion with a 153 total. Runner Up Net went to David Guerinni following a best of the day net 72 for a 155 total.

The Stableford category for handicaps 10-18 was won by Mark Fearn (Katameya Heights) with a total of 63 points. This gave him a one stroke victory over Omar Khan (Katameya Heights). Third place went to Mitch Lemmon (Katameya Dunes) on 58 points.

The Faldo tee challenge was played over both the Palms and Lakes Courses with total yardage of the two course measuring 14, 745!
